Had my first Pasteis de nata, picked them up fresh the owner was prompt to call me and inform me when the new batch was ready. I am not a fan of sweets but this was delicate and creamy, paired with the flakiest soft shell. No eggy taste at all. I also picked up some ribbon cake for a friend who has memories of visiting the original Simonia bakery growing up. You can stop here to have other sandwiches, smoothies and juices as well. The cafe has a lovely collections of plants and cute cacti for sale!

One morning in Goa, I was craving something different. I wanted to try the Goan desserts I’d always heard about but never really explored. That’s how I found Simona’s Bakery. Tucked away in a sleepy Goan lane, Simona’s doesn’t scream for attention. You know you’ve walked into the right kind of place. I went specifically for dodol and bebinca — two classics. The dodol was dense, rich, and had that deep caramel warmth that lingers just enough. The bebinca? Layered to perfection — not overly sweet, but indulgent in a way that makes you pause between bites. You could tell these recipes have been passed down, not just whipped up. The staff didn’t try to upsell, which I appreciated. Is it the best bakery in Goa? Maybe not for everyone. But if you’re the kind who notices when food is made with intention, you’ll probably walk out of Simona’s with something more than a paper bag. It’s the kind of place you stumble upon once — and remember every time you crave something real.

It’s really strange it’s barely more than half full. I paid ₹100 for this coffee and it’s not even worth it. They said it had froth when they poured it, but now it’s only half a cup.

Have driven past this establishment a few times and thought I would stop for lunch today. I spoke to the young lady at the front desk and she confirmed that they were open. As I was identifying a table - the young lady then abruptly told me they are closed and don’t open until 3pm, which is bizarre when I arrived at 1pm for lunch. She pointed to a gentleman who apparently gave this instruction. Recommend not to bother with such establishments that have zero civic sense or understanding of hospitality.
