This place far exceeds any expectations you may have from a japanese restaurant in India. They have a beautiful cocktail program, all the three drinks we ordered were spot on. The menu very well describes the ingredients as well as what to expect from the drink. Their small plates, cold and hot are near perfection - flavourful with great ingredients and served so beautifully. The seared scallops are to die for. Their nigri sushi is generous with the fish and flavoured perfectly. Even their desserts are to die for. We absolutely loved their sesame ice cream and nama chocolate mousse. The service was quick and efficient. The place takes on goa vibes.. spacious and airy... much better than the bandra outlet. The portion sizes are small and the meal can get expensive very quickly. But honestly I would recommend the place whole heartedly for a special occassion or if you are a fan of japanese food. All in all.. an absolute must visit.

This is such a great spot for food with bad service, went there for dinner long table was packed - servers were only busy showing hospitality to the group. We had a reservation sat outside there were too many mosquitoes, had to sit on the sushi bar side got extremely noisy cause of the big group. After finishing our meals (food was fabulous) they left us unattended, had to get up and call the manager for bill which is ridiculous? Like bro wthh!! Such a shame cause food is great but won’t recommend or go again 🫠

Deeply disappointing dinner at Izumi Assagao. The worst item was the tuna nigiri, which was supposed to be chutoro. What arrived looked nothing like proper chutoro: almost no marbling, dark lean colour, fibrous grain, icy cold temperature, odd texture, and a fishy taste. It looked much closer to akami. For a premium tuna item, this felt misleading. Japanese food is not about drowning things in truffle oil, sauces, or trendy ingredients. It is about ingredient quality, restraint, temperature, balance, and precision. This meal missed those basics. The tonkotsu ramen was only passable. The broth had body but lacked pork depth and leaned too fishy. The ajitsuke tamago was over-cured and extremely salty. The gyoza was soggy, poorly seared, and ruined by excessive truffle oil. I ordered green tea and was served jasmine tea without being told they were out of green tea. Basic communication failure. I contacted them privately by both email and Instagram DM before posting this. No reply. Having eaten at the Mumbai outpost, the Goa branch feels like a much weaker restaurant trading on the Izumi name. The positive reviews may impress diners without much reference for Japanese food outside India, but anyone familiar with proper sushi or ramen will see the gaps immediately. Poor representation of Japanese food and poor accountability.

Had a good experience at Izumi Assagao overall. The food was delicious—the miso beef tenderloin was rich and well done, the chicken gyoza were nicely balanced, and the tempura prawns with spicy mayo were light and crispy. The pork tonkotsu ramen was flavorful and comforting, though the chicken paitan ramen felt a bit average in comparison. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality mostly justifies it. The ambience and overall atmosphere were great, making it a pleasant place to dine.

Visited Izumi in Assagao, Goa recently. The vibe and ambiance were really nice — very aesthetic and perfect for a relaxed evening. The place has a great atmosphere and feels quite premium, yet it’s not overly expensive. However, the food was honestly not that great and didn’t fully meet expectations. While the presentation was good, the taste could have been better. Overall, it’s a nice spot for the vibe and experience, but food-wise it was average for me.
